While I am writing this, I already have had a major zoom fatigue and tomorrow is yet another sprint planning so another same old hate-these-calls kind of day. My perspective about WFH is rather one-sided because I haven't really worked from office but college from home was equally bad, considering I have physically attended college(but not mentally, LOL).

I am by default extremely lazy and on top of that, absolutely love sleeping. WFH, thus, hasn't helped me much, all that it has done to me is made me even more lazy and lethargic. Ever since the whole pandemic thing, I have worked at two organisations, Goibibo and JPMC but sadly WFH. Here is my take on why WFH is not for me:

  1. Keeps you in the same spot all day long, stuck to the screen. No physical movement, no interaction, and fragmented focus.
  2. No schedule for work. Untimely calls at odd hours leads to wastage of other person's time. Gives zoom/call fatigue. Hence, blurred work-life boundaries.
  3. Communication is highly ineffective majority of times being heavily dependent on network connectivities and physical boundaries.
  4. Not much connections are built during WFH in a new environment. No small talks related to things other than work.
  5. No demarcation between personal & professional space(Absolutely hate calls with video turned on, because I am a mess all time).
  6. Missing out carrying out physical interactions in a professional environment and observing people. (This specifically intrigues me because I have always dreamt of working in a huge building with coffee by my side. My reality is obviously not any close to this but up for whatever gets me off my bed).
  7. Get burned out very easily. Nothing much to look for the next day other than releases and new sprint plannings.

Here's to another usual day at work(from home) tomorrow.
